Two of my students (Rupesh and Rijwan) recently asked me on two separate occasions to name a few books that have completely transformed my life and helped to recreate my worldview. Here is the complete list of the books that changed how I view life. I have read all of these and can recommend them to anyone, any day!

There are many more books that I can recommend, but these are a level ahead of the rest. (I promise to keep refining this list as and when I find a new book I read to be a masterclass.)

Author with two of his favourite life-changing books (The Logic of Scientific Discovery by Karl Popper and The Structure of Scientific Revolutions by Thomas. S. Kuhn. These books are not included in this list keeping in mind a general audience.

A distilled version of my own worldview with all sorts of advice, including philosophy, time management, creativity, personal finance, psychology, ethics, philosophy etc., can be found in my latest book, Life Skills.

By the way, a good heuristic before jumping to purchase these or any other book is to do the following beforehand:

  1. Search GoodReads to see the rating and reviews. I find GoodReads reviews trustworthy mostly.
  2. Listen to the author’s interviews about the book on YouTube
  3. Read book summaries from Blinkist

If you are an avid bibliophile, I suggest getting a Kindle, an investment that pays dividends in the long run. I switched to Kindle Paperwhite 10 years ago and two years ago, upgraded to Kindle Oasis; absolutely love it.

Before leaving, here are some of the rotten picks; the most hated self-help books which are synonymous with clichés:

  1. Secret by Rhonda Byrne
  2. Chicken soup for the soul
  3. The Monk who sold his Ferrari
  4. Quantum healing
  5. The Power of Positive Thinking, Norman Vincent Peale

Do you have any other books that have completely transformed your life? Please comment below.
